Watch over Me

Darkness overwhelms my soul,
as I lie sleeping upon my bed;
startled... I'm awakened by
gloomy thoughts that fill my head.
~
Troubles from the day before,
and those that I will face tomorrow;
pierce my heart with fear and dread,
and overcome my mind with sorrow.
~
Remembering that my God is near,
I ask Him to watch over me;
to guide me on this rocky path,
and from my anguish be set free.
~
- Majestic Angels swiftly fly,
to rescue me from this dark night;
and now I know they're always near,
though not one be within my sight-
